“How does one feel in the moment of realization that they are spending their last few moments on earth? Is this feeling heightened or more extreme when faced with the knowledge that you created this moment yourself? Immortality was created to showcase that particular moment of one’s life – their last. When dealing with artists, musicians, authors and actors it often times brings about a legendary status that the individual did not possess before their dramatic ending. What exactly were these “celebrities” feeling before their pretentious demise? Why has the media given these lost souls a celebrated position in history? Would Sylvia Plath, Kurt Cobain, or Vincent Van Gosh still be as controversial today had it not been for their “unordinary” death?”

I believe you’re referencing Virginia Woolf in the top image. If you are, I don’t fully understand the connection between the image, your statement, and how she met her demise. If this was to represent her last few moments on earth then perhaps you should have depicted her picking up stones and putting them in her pockets or show her wading into a river. Of course this doesn’t apply if I’m off base with who is being depicted.

I’m putting the subjects in a modern setting to convey the fact that this still happens today.

It was Virginia Woolf, but I photographed the subject as though she was about to drown herself in a bathtub as opposed to a river. There are stones stitting on the toilet seat, and she is placing a stone in her pocket with her right hand.

Sorry for the confusion. I should have stated the “modern” part in my statement but it had to be cut quite a bit to fit on this site.

i like how you incorporated the environment as much as the individual that realy helps you understand who it is and what they did. the statement is really deep and difficult to capture that moment but you did it very well. i really like the vincent van gogh because of his expression and the environment. i would like to see a kurt cobain image.
