I am really enjoying the diagonal line in the 2nd photograph–great composition! Coffee and cigarettes–such a timeless companionship. The lady’s hair in the first one is awesome. I can’t tell if it’s windy or if she just got out of bed, but I like it.
Comment by MAEHYMN November 11, 2008 @ 11:27 pmI really enjoy these photographs, and feel that they tell a story. I have recently been getting into portraiture and admire your use of your models felling of emotion especially in the second photo. I also like your depth of field that you use in both.
Comment by Kyle green November 13, 2008 @ 7:56 pmI love these portraits. I’m drawn to the black and white and since I do a lot of portraiture myself, I’m so interested in the expressions of each person. The images set the scene of something so real and lose the feeling of being aware of the camera, even though the woman is staring directly at you.
Comment by Maija November 18, 2008 @ 3:34 pmI always find these stranger photos to be fun. It takes both the subject and photographer out of their safe zone. You are forced to capture someone you don’t know. IF the person sees you, then they are nervous and scared. I really enjoy the second one. He doesn’t appear to see the camera, and is just having a good time. The richness of the tones are also really good.
Comment by Nathan Bell November 19, 2008 @ 4:02 pmi think this first image is great. the way you captured her seems as though you asked her permission and she was reluctant to allow it but because you told her it was for school she gave you the opportunity.
Comment by Kyndal McAllister November 24, 2008 @ 9:56 ami enjoy this second image. you really captured the essence of this mans joy but fail to show the audience what exactly is making him so happy; i enjoy that aspect because it really intrigues and engages the audience because of its lack of information.
Comment by Kyndal McAllister November 24, 2008 @ 9:58 ami really enjoy the compositions and facial expressions. the technicality is good and the images almost show the subjects personality. i can almost picture myself there and hear their voice. i am interested to see the difference between the expressions and reactions made by the subjects who knew they were being photographed. the only thing i see that could be better is the sky on the first image could be burned in a little.
