You’ve really captured distinct features of SF culture — and I think these photos work well as a diptych, showing two different kinds of atmospheres in California. The color and contrast in the top photo is really nice. I would love to see the rest of the series!
Comment by Jessica Doing May 6, 2010 @ 3:08 pmThe color in your pieces is really strong. I love the pop of red in the top piece and the vibrant green in the bottom one. I also like the sharp diagonals in both pieces. The diagonal of the house in the top one and the diagonals formed by the shadows.
Comment by Liz Newman June 2, 2010 @ 8:42 pmThe bottom photo of the trees is amazingly crisp and detailed. The texture that you bring with that strong directional late/early day light makes me want to experience that place myself. The amazing saturation in the greens and range of different greens in that photo inspires me. Good work, keep it up. Also, what equipment did you use?
Comment by Alexander DeVoe June 10, 2010 @ 4:29 pmglorious coloring in these images! the lighting in the trees and meadow are gorgeous, and i love the muted colors and then bold doorway of the top image!
Comment by Alanya Patterson June 10, 2010 @ 10:42 pmYour print series of San Francisco is awesome! I remember the steep roads in SF. You did a really good job to show the steepness of the roads in your first print. The color saturation of your prints is outstanding. The red door frame really stands out in the first print. The blue colored windows and brown frames resonate the vividness well. The green in your second print is so fresh and attractive.
Comment by Zhizhong Pang June 11, 2010 @ 12:55 amBeautiful. Seriously. You are making these places seem mysterious by your choices in composition and the richness of the colors.
Comment by Katie Ryan June 11, 2010 @ 7:57 amThe diagonals in these photos are captured really well. The diagonal line formed by the street in the top image causes it to have tension, it seems like the house should just fall over. I really like it. The bottom image is also very strong . The colors are very vibrant and pleasing to the eye.
Comment by Charlotte Long July 10, 2010 @ 9:44 pmThese images have beautiful and rich colors in them. Good use of lines in the first picture, with the steps leading up the hill, the siding on the buildings etc. I also appreciate the shadows cast from the trees on the bottom picture, making more of a darker rich green color. Wonderful composition on both images, especially with the bottom one and only showing the bottom parts of the trees.
Comment by Kristen Kutil September 19, 2010 @ 7:28 pmLove, love, love all of the lines and angles in both of these photos. The top image shows many different angles and intersections which make the image very interesting to look at. The second photo is my favorite. The color and lighting is so lush. It makes me feel like I wanna dream underneath those trees!
Comment by Shona Drake December 2, 2010 @ 1:48 pmThe first image is really strong to me. I like how there are so many lines going in a variety of angles. This makes it very intriguing, as well as the pops of color against the white-ish areas. These aspects of the picture make it look natural and chaotic. I love it. I even like the person included in the picture because it adds another splash of color and balances out the left side of this picture. Good job!
