Part of a series I am doing focusing on certain aspects of nature as identifying features. In a sense, I am trying to capture the personality of nature. I am also attempting to show the qualities of nature that resemble human qualities or qualities of other objects we are familiar with.

I think this is a really interesting idea for a series. It’s almost like portraiture through nature. I’m interested to see more images in the style of the second picture. The depth of field and texture from the plant makes it all the more curious to me. My eyes are drawn to the top of the image where I find myself trying to figure out the detail in the back.

These images, especially the second, are very intriguing to me. The first one makes me want to peer through those leaves and see what’s on the other side. The second has this sort of frantic feeling that makes it beautiful yet unsettling.

I enjoy the way that these images are working together. I like the way that the lines found within each image relate to one another.

It is an interesting concept to think about nature as having human qualities that could be captured through a portrait. How do you intend to make this apparent within your images? How can you accentuate these features to push your idea and make it clear to a viewer?

Keep up the good work– I look forward to seeing more of your images!

i really like the way you zoomed in on the images and created this whole different world between the plants~ i kinda feels like you are telling a story~

I guess I’m struggling to find the resemblance to human qualities, and maybe it’s because I am not clear on whether it is emotions or physical features that you are looking to show. Or is it supposed to be more a portrait of nature? The photos are both very nice, but with the description I’m unsure how the photos represent those ideas. It will be interesting to see more.

I think your concept is excellent- pseudo-Aristotelian, and very intriguing. In my opinion, the second photograph is a much better representation of your concept: the photograph is complex, compositionally beautiful, and the colors really give a sense of personality. The vagueness and blurriness of it are perfect.

The first photograph would be much more interesting if there was a change in color- perhaps a (blurred out) background including red, browns, and blues. Having a unifying color scheme would really help to create a cohesive series.

Excellent work so far.

I really like the concept behind your series, it made me look harder to identify human characteristics or other objects I have encounter. I really like the second print more then the first one. The second photograph is more abstract which makes me try to identify what it is in nature as well as the human trait. The detail in the second print is beautiful which is only enhanced by the subtle light source, the dynamic color of pink and the composition. While the first photograph is beautiful, I know what I am looking at and spend less time trying to figure out what it resembles. Great concept!!!

I love the top photograph and feel that the composition is working well for it. Its a nice clear image and with the background blurred it makes me wonder what the few shapes are. The lower one is a mysterious photo. I cant tell 100% what it is but it keeps me looking. and because of that aspect to it I feel that its a successful photo.

I am really drawn to your second image. I love how the short depth of field brings a soft pinks and greens to into the image. It brings a sense of motion to the image which works well in expressing some of the personality of the plant.
