The color and lighting for these images are beautiful. They leave such a serene peaceful feeling after looking at them. I enjoy the top photo more because of the nice contrast between the foreground and background. I feel the bottom photo is a tad to dark and loses some of the details. Overall still great photos.
Comment by Melissa Phizacklea November 18, 2011 @ 7:16 pmI like the atmosphere that the fog creates in both of these images. The images give me a sense of a full circle because the top one looks like it could be early morning where as the bottom one looks like it could be dusk.

It demonstrates how such a simple change such as lighting can be the difference between a serene picture and an eerie space. Good job playing with the tools nature gives us to capture two wonderful yet opposite pictures.
Comment by Bridget November 27, 2011 @ 6:45 pmI wouldn’t necessarily say that these two images are of a “contemporary” landscape, but that aside, these are both strong images and work cohesively with mood, color, and subject. In the first image I appreciate the division of foreground and background created by the depth of field and mist. In the bottom image my eye continually moves around the composition because it is brought in by the placement of the road to the bottom right and leads through the entire composition.

Comment by Carrie November 28, 2011 @ 10:15 pmKudos for catching the subjects in the first image in the perfect light. The fog between the foreground and background is wonderful and gives the viewer, as Molly already stated, an eerie feeling. I love the crispness of the grass in the top image which allows me to see what looks like frost on the grass. This adds to the eerie, chilly morning feel I get from looking at the image.
