From the Series “Linear Equations” – 22 prints total

In this series I focused on abstracting relatively mundane objects to emphasize linear qualities. While focusing on this I found that some of my negative images were equally as beautiful, if not more so then than their positive prints. So, I decided to take the abstraction further and incorporate the paper negative print and then use it to create a whole new image.

This series consists of small pieces of an incomplete narrative paired with photos taken in North Holland. The idea is that each photograph represents a memory. The personality of the “protagonist” is slowly revealed through these narratives.

I am currently working on a series about homelessness. My goal in photographing homeless people in the community is to capture the humanity of these people as opposed to their homelessness. Through capturing these individuals in their everyday lives I hope to break down barriers in people’s understanding of homelessness as well as address why the stigma surrounding homelessness is problematic.
