Destinee Wells

Destinee Wells
Art 3470: Digital Photography 1
Digital Print; 8.5 X 11

Description: This photography is of my friend Sarah. I had her sit on the skeleton of an old bridge frame because I like the old, rusty look of it. The old bridge with the background of the water and trees caught my attention and I wanted to catch the beauty of it even though some people may thing the old bridge is “ugly”.

  1. The composition here is a little stale. I’d like to see a little bit more variety in focus (perhaps a lower f-stop) and a little less variety in color (lower saturation). Furthermore if the point of the image is the broken bridge, I’d like to see a little more of the broken bridge as there’s not really any context for me to know what these metal things are. I would maybe try to burn the sky a little too to bring the brightness of it down.

  2. I love the vividness and intensity of the colors in this photo. I really think that the green and blue go together quite nicely, however, there is a quite a bit of shadow on Sarah’s face. I think you could’ve probably has a shallower depth of field or came at maybe a different angle to really emphasize the bridge that you were trying to capture in this photograph. You could’ve done a much better job at doing this if you were to show more of it 🙂

  3. I would refocus what you are trying to capture in the image. The bridge isn’t truly a part of the photograph. Other than that, the image is good. I would try to add more color into the sky though instead of having it so bright.
