Ivie Martin
ART 3470: Digital Photography I
Digital Print; 8.5″ x 11″

This photo was taken for a cityscape assignment and I found that the fallen bike on the sidewalk really reminded me of my hometown, in Lansing, where the photo was taken.

  1. the extreme angle of the building gives the image this sense of precarious motion, almost like falling. the framing is effective here as well; the inclusion of a good amount of sky helps balance the weight of the structure and gives it a beautiful backdrop. The inclusion of the few trees on the left add a nice contrast of organic forms against harsh architectural lines.

  2. I’m so intrigued by this photograph because of the harsh unnatural angle of the building. I keep wanting to “figure it out” and learn more. I also love the saturation of your colors without it being overdone.
