We often don’t think about poverty or notice it around us if we are not living in poverty ourselves. This series of photos was taken to show what poverty looks like, whether it’s a lack of food, or lack of a place to sleep in hope that we can be more aware of the needs of the people around us.

  1. The pictures themselves are very well taken in regards to quality, however the subject matter of poverty i believe could be accomplished through less staged photography which subtract from the impact of such a heavy topic. So for future references I’d use more offset angles/less direct shots.

  2. I think you have chosen a very powerful and important topic, however I don’t think you have portrayed very well. The empty plate itself doesn’t send the message across. Perhaps reconsider putting things in perspective and situating them in the environment that they would then tell a story / send a message / communicate the purpose and meaning.

  3. I think your pictures are great, but I think you could have done a better job documenting the story of poverty. I think giving a story behind them, trying to incorporate more faces, anything to give it more emotion would help a lot!

  4. The images that draws me in the most is definitely the last one. The blur which would usually bother me gives me a different feeling in this image. It evokes that there is something possibly more interesting or more intended by this image. I feel like as for the message you are trying to communicate, I would instead like to see street photographs of people living in poverty. This would strengthen your message and provide the image with elements of sincerity.

  5. What a great idea for your series, very powerful imagery. Photos are a very well done. I love the under the bridge shot, great choice on depth of field and focal point.
    Well done!

  6. The last photo is really strong to me because of the way the lights at the end make this flickering effect. This photo also screams nostalgia for me personally because the whole photo has this washed over haze that provide the image with this dream like state or past event.
