Silver Prints; 8″ x 10″
4 of 9 prints in series

Although these weren’t taken for one project in particular, I have a lot of photography focused on plants, and wanted to put together a couple of my favorites throughout my other series into one cohesive one.

  1. Hi Grace! Throughout your series, you have a great range of tones and I specifically am drawn the dark blacks that you have captured. This is beautiful. My favorite image in your series would have to be the first photograph because of the lighting. The natural lighting highlights the details of each plant while also revealing intricate shadows on the floor as well. The image is so complex and engaging. Similarly, I love the lighting in the last photo for the same reason. Overall, your mini-series of plants is very well done!

  2. These prints are beautiful. I am especially drawn to the last photo because of the texture and contrast in the flowers. I love the quality of all of these prints, though. The contrast is great. I also especially like the composition of the second photo.

  3. Hi Grace,
I just want to say that I really enjoyed looking at these photos. I love the textures, forms, and blacks/whites of these photos. I think you did a good job with the printing. For better digital quality, I’d recommend scanning from a high quality scanner like epson. Awesome job!

  4. I love this serie of plants, feels very nature and satisfiying to see. The objects in focus and the blurry ones blend well really nicely. The composition and dimension in these images are also very satisfiying. I especially love the first image, where the things in the back are out of focus and the objects in the front are in sharp focus. And the fact that it is in black and white makes everything coherent and not messy at all.

  5. Hi! These pictures are so beautiful. I can feel a different kind of beauty in black and white pictures. I like your second picture the most. It reminds me of the deep heart of forest. This picture can cause people’s imagination. Overall, I think you played very well with the depth of field. I like them!

  6. Personally love macro focused pictures and your pictures are exactly in my style. I enjoyed how you used the field of depth really well and you focused on your subject perfectly. I also loved the foliage in the first picture. Big fan of how you played with light! Although your pictures are in black and white, I can tell that the corn is of various colors. It’s commendable that you’ve taken so many good pictures even outside of class!

  7. Plants! Everyone loves plants! There’s amazing focus in each of the photos. I’m quite fond of the first one because of the focus and the feeling you get from the photo. Sure, we feel up close to the plants like we’re inside the store. However, what peaks my interest is the feeling of sunlight and warmth in a black and white photo. It’s a laying on the ground with the sun seeping through the window feel.
