This series was photographed in an antique store in Beloit, Wisconsin called Angela’s Attic. The concept was animating inanimate objects, particularly bringing the bizarre inhabitants of the antique store to life. These photos were part of a series of four.

2 of 4 photos

Two in a series of four photos dealing with hue, lighting, the subject’s awareness of the photo, and the use of negative space around the subjects. I plan to explore this subject a little more with a reshoot and would love feed back and guidance with what to do next.

2 out of 4 in a series

These two photos were for a project called “The Cutting Edge”, which focused on close-up shots. For these photos I especially focused on light and shadows as well as design elements such as diagonal and horizontal lines.

Eight Images in the Series

The hand sculpture project grew out of an assignment to create an event for the camera that disappeared. The photos were to be not just a record of the event, but art. I asked a group of Beloit College faculty to create forms with their hands in late afternoon light. I had hesitated to bother people, professionals busy at the beginning of a term. But I stepped over my fear to ask for help. When I explained the project people were willing to participate. Still they were restrained at the beginning of the shoot. As the hour went on, when hesitation fell away and co-operation took over in the form of play, the images I saw in my lens grew richer. I found this project very challenging and in the end I felt the work was worth it. I am proud of the results.

The second image was just for fun

These images are various samplings of my work from the past semester, they are reflections of the library at Beloit College and a piece of installation art in downtown Chicago. They are meant to alter the way the viewer looks at an object.

Title: Fierce My Ass
Taken in Washington, DC. In front of the national capital. It was in the LGBT month and there was a parade. Lady GaGa was giving a speech. I waited behind this women holding a sign. I knew she would hold it up at some time. I waited and when the speech was over, this women held up this sign and the flag. Then I took the shot.

Series that has 3 images thus far with intentions of expanding.

This is a series of just bodyscapes at the moment but I have intentions to expand to a broader area than just nude bodyscapes for this particular series. My intention was to have the viewer focus on the lines that bodies create when joined in a puzzle piece sort of fashion. When I expand this series, at the very least I intend to focus on the joining of hands, heads and feet. Later on I want to find a way to reshoot these photographs I am presenting right now so that a bed is not cutting into the figures in the photographs.
